The C-Secure Basic card reader/writer reads data from an inserted card by way of contactless Radio Frequency. This reader can be used for a variety of applications including cashless vending and access control.
How It Works (sample): Vending
Upon reading a valid card several things occur:
- When the consumer inserts their card, the card data is read and transmitted to the C-Secure transceiver (or may be to the machine controller)
- If a C-Secure transceiver is present, or if the controller is sophisticated, the value on the card may be displayed on the machine LED or LCD (also, a two, four or six-digit display can be added to this reader/writer).
- The card value is compared to either the vend requested
At this point several things could occur:
- The card is removed. An “end of transaction” message is sent to the C-Secure transceiver (or machine controller), any available LED display is blanked or any available LCD will display a “Transaction complete. Please remove your card” message.
- A button on the machine is pressed. The value on the card is decreased by the amount of the purchase; the LED or LCD displays are updated to the new value.
- -A refill command is received from the C-Secure transceiver via the C-Secure Web-based command center. The amount of refill contained in the command is added to the value on the card and the LED display is updated to the new value.
- A Hot Card (lost, stolen, unreadable, etc.) command is received from the transceiver. Any available displays will indicate that the card cannot be used.
Bus Address
Each C-Secure Basic reader/writer has a (RS-485) bus address. It can only be changed by Special Control Card. Special orders for RS-232 or USB are available.
